This product provides unidirectional protection, with a surge capability of 200 Watts PPP per line for an 8/20s waveform and ESD protection > 25 kilovolts. UNIDIRECTIONAL COMMON-MODE CONFIGURATION (Figure 1) The PSMF Series provides up to four (4) lines of protection in a common-mode configuration as depicted in Figure 1. Circuit connectivity is as follows: I/O 1 is connected to Pin 1. I/O 2 is connected to Pin 3. I/O 3 is connected to Pin 4. I/O 4 is connected to Pin 5. Pin 2 is connected to ground. Figure 1 - Unidirectional Configuration Common-Mode I/O Port Protection I/O 4 I/O 3 CIRCUIT BOARD LAYOUT RECOMMENDATIONS Circuit board layout is critical for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) protection. The following guidelines are recommended: I/O INTEGRATED CIRCUIT 5 4 The protection device should be placed near the input terminals or connectors, the device will divert the transient current immediately before it can be coupled into the nearby traces. The path length between the TVS device and the protected line should be minimized. All conductive loops including power and ground loops should be minimized. The transient current return path to ground should be kept as short as possible to reduce parasitic inductance. Ground planes should be used whenever possible. For multilayer PCBs, use ground vias. 1 I/O 2 I/O 1 2 3 05123.R9 10/05 4 www.protekdevices.com PSMF05 thru PSMF24 PACKAGE OUTLINE & DIMENSIONS PACKAGE OUTLINE D E SC70-5L 5 4 K 0 - 8 PACKAGE DIMENSIONS DIM MILLIMETERS MIN MAX 1.90 1.15 0.80 0.15 0.65 BSC 1.30 BSC 0.80 0.08 1.90 0 0.26 2.15 1.35 1.00 0.30 1.10 0.25 2.15 0.10 0.46 1 2 3 L J B M INCHES MIN MAX 0.074 0.045 0.031 0.006 0.0255 BSC 0.0512 BSC 0.031 0.003 0.074 0 0.010 0.084 0.055 0.040 0.012 0.043 0.010 0.084 0.004 0.018 F A G C A B C D E F G J K L M NOTES MOUNTING PAD TYPICAL DIM Millimeters Inches 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 0.50 1.30 0.65 1.72 0.60 1.11 2.33 0.020 0.051 0.026 0.068 0.024 0.044 0.092 4 1.
